I have previously blogged about my struggle with being patient.  When there is something that I want to accomplish I do not want to have to wait for it to come to fruition.  I have a clear vision of where I am headed or what needs to be done and I desire that to occur on my time frame.  However, I have also come to learn that God does not operate according to my time frames (nor do most other people).  I have also learned that God has a much greater understanding of what steps are necessary in order to achieve the best results and sometimes those steps require time.

I know that I am not alone with these struggles.  I have had multiple conversations with other individuals that struggle with being patient and letting the course of events move them forward just as I struggle.  It always seems a bit foreign to me as I counsel them on being patient when I this is an ongoing battle for myself.  Yet, I also know that this is the counsel they need just like me.  I have also learned from experience that many wonderful surprises which greatly enhance the end result can occur if I will just give them the time necessary to happen.

So today I am reminded of a song that I have sung many times:

IN HIS TIME, IN HIS TIME
HE MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME
LORD, PLEASE SHOW ME EVERYDAY
AS YOU’RE TEACHING ME YOUR WAY
AND I’LL DO JUST WHAT YOU SAY
IN YOUR TIME.

IN YOUR TIME, IN YOUR TIME
YOU MAKE ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN YOUR TIME
LORD, MY LIFE TO YOU I BRING
MAY EACH SONG I HAVE TO SING
BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME

BE TO YOU A LOVELY THING
IN YOUR TIME.

(“In His Time”, Diane Ball)
